The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, will be the backdrop for the 2009 ArenaCup, the arenafootball2 league's 10th anniversary championship event. ArenaCup10, promoted in conjunction with the Orleans Casino and Hotel, will be held on Saturday, August 22. The American Conference Champion Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers (16-3) will tackle the National Conference Champion Spokane Shock (18-1) for the right to be called league champions.
This will be the first time the af2 title game will be held in Las Vegas. The Arena Football League (AFL) held two ArenaBowl Championship games in Las Vegas in 2005 and 2006. This is the fourth time in the last five seasons the af2 has held a neutral-site ArenaCup. A neutral-site championship game gives fans time to make plans to attend the game and allows the League to put together a unique sports and entertainment weekend.
“We are excited to bring the ArenaCup to Las Vegas where we know it will be a first-class event from top to bottom,” said af2 President Jerry Kurz. “Our owners were in total agreement as well. They saw the value in bringing our league’s season-ending, showcase event to arguably the biggest showcase city in the world. In addition, our fans are going to be treated to a unique, total entertainment experience from touchdown to takeoff.”
The Orleans Casino and Hotel has created a number of fan and family-friendly, affordable ArenaCup Weekend options that include tickets to the game and a two-night hotel stay. Those options are listed in detail below.
