The Quad City Steamwheelers have announced the team will hold an open player tryout for the 2007 season on Sunday, October 8, 2006, at Orthopedic Specialists Sports Complex located at 5003 North Brady Street in Davenport. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., with tryouts running from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

 

Fans are welcome to attend the tryout and see potential 2007 Steamwheelers. Tickets for fans wanting to attend will be sold for $5.00 the day of the event and will include free food and drinks along with a training camp T-shirt.   

 

Head Coach Sean Ponder will oversee the tryouts along with several members of the coaching staff. The tryouts will consist of a forty-yard dash, 225-pound bench press, standing long jump, twenty-yard shuttle run, and position drills. Players are required to wear molded cleats and will receive a t-shirt.

 

Tryout costs will be $55 for athletes who pre-register by October 5th. Walk-in registrations will be accepted the day of the tryout for $70. Payment is required in cash, money order, or check payable to the Quad City Steamwheelers. Credit cards will not be accepted.
